Detroit – The first phase of Corktown’s massive Elton Park development is nearing completion and leasing is available for all six of its eclectic residential options. The iconic Checker Building was the first of Elton Park’s six buildings to be completed. Residents of the historic redevelopment were welcomed in December 2018.
Elton Park’s remaining five buildings range from traditional apartments to live/work spaces and row houses. When the first phase of Elton Park is completed, it will span five blocks and include 151 apartments, totaling about 125,000 square feet of residential space and about 13,000 square feet of retail.
In addition to the Checker Building, Elton Park includes:
- The Robertson, named after George Robertson, the first taxi driver in Detroit to paint black-and-white checkers on his cab. It features 45 one- and two-bedroom apartments and first-floor retail. Apartments range in size from 575 to 1,240 square feet. One- and two-bedroom apartments start at $1,300 and $2,300, respectively.
- The Crawford, named after Crawford Park, another neighborhood park near the original Elton Park that was lost to history. It features 40 one- and two-bedroom apartments housed in an elegant brick façade with first-floor retail. Apartments range in size from 615 to 1,020 square feet. One- and two-bedroom apartments start at $1,400 and $2,400, respectively.
- 2100 and 2120 Trumbull, which feature 940-square-foot apartments across three floors, offering flexible live/work environments and first-floor retail. 2100 Trumbull features exposure to Trumbull and Elizabeth Street. 2120 Trumbull offers exposure to Trumbull and Checker Alley, an active gathering space with commercial space between the Checker Building and 2120 Trumbull. Apartments start at $1,425.
- 8th Street Row, which was inspired by Irish row houses. It features single-family style residential apartments with 1,775 square feet of living space on three levels. Apartments start at $3,200.
