Anthony Soave has always taught his employees to find ways to give back to their community.  Each company within Soave Enterprises actively supports local programs, events, and charities to spread hope, awareness, and education efforts in their own city.  Recently, Soave Real Estate and Brambleton hosted the Ringing in Hope Memorial Day Run at Brambleton Town Center to benefit local charitable organizations that benefit men and women in the military.  The event was a huge success, drawing nearly 1,600 participants.

Recognizing Our Military

The Memorial Day race was organized to celebrate those individuals and organizations who serve our nation’s military men, women, and families.  The event was held at Brambleton, an award-winning master-planned community from Soave Real Estate in Loudoun County, VA.

Over 1,600 participants gathered to run the 5K or 10K course or to join the 1K walk.  Former Washington Redskins wide receiver Darnerien McCants started the 5K and 10K race by ringing a large historical bell.  The bell was part of the “Bells of the Fallen,” a travelling display intended to honor American service men and women who have served in recent operations including Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan, and Operation New Dawn.

Each race was officially timed, and runners received timing chips to track their personal times.  Winners for each course included:

5K Female Winner – Elizabeth Hollis, Leesburg, 20:26

5K Male Winner – Matthew Clark, Reston, 17:30

10K Female Winner – Kathryn Dunn, Purcellville, 45:11

10K Male Winner – Gregory Stemberger, South Riding, 36:35

A Festive Finale

As runners crossed the finish line, they were treated to food and appetizers from local businesses and eateries.  Participants also had the opportunity to test their endurance and performance on the inflatable Savage Hill presented by the Special Forces Track Club.

Activities for the entire family were also available including face painting, moon bounces, a barrel train ride, pony rides, arts and crafts, and more.

Supporting the Troops

The Ringing in Hope Run is hosted multiple times throughout the year and is meant to raise awareness and funding for various charities including: The Fisher House Foundation, the Wounded Warrior Project, Special Forces Track Club, and Operation Gratitude.
