CITY Beverage-Chicago Sponsors Local and National ESPN Radio Broadcasts to Cheer the Hometown Bears

In a city filled with sports-minded individuals, Chicago is proud of its hometown team, the Bears. Throughout the playoff season, the NFL team has been on its fans’ minds and city’s airwaves. CITY Beverage-Chicago (CBC) joined in the “March to Miami” fun by sponsoring live radio broadcasts from two of its largest on-premise accounts.

On Friday, January 12, the nationally syndicated ESPN radio show, Mike & Mike in the Morning, began its 5 to 9 a.m. broadcast from 115 Bourbon Street. Later that afternoon, Mac, Jurko & Harry from ESPN’s local affiliate, AM 1000, broadcast their program from Quigley’s Pub. Both shows were presented by Bud Light.

CBC employees were on hand at the broadcast locations to facilitate light-hearted fan promotions, including a Bears player look-alike contest and a generous number of Budweiser giveaways.

“These special on-location events were a complete success,” said CBC Sales Manager Tom Hincks. “We are thrilled with the public support – and obviously with the Bears performance in the play-off game after the event.”

Holiday Season a Success for CITY Beverage-Bloomington with Charity Drive and “Monday Night” Promotion

Though their “workshop” is located in Illinois and not the North Pole, the elves at CITY Beverage- Bloomington labored throughout the holiday season to ensure both smiling faces and impressive sales.

The Anheuser-Busch distributor was the largest sponsor of this year’s citywide Toys for Tots drive. On December 9, 2006, the community-minded company joined with other area businesses to host a silent auction at the local VFW Hall. CITY Beverage donated auction items raised more than $5,500, including a BBQ set, a Budweiser jacket and several coolers.

Later the same day, the VFW hall continued as a venue for Toys for Tots fundraising. CITY Beverage co-hosted an annual dart tournament at the hall, with the proceeds also going to the non-profit organization.

“These successful events raised $11,000 for Toys for Tots and exceeded our goals,” John Caruso, General Manager for CITY Beverage-Bloomington, happily explained. “We are delighted to have provided our time, energy and talents to this worthy cause.”

In addition to guaranteeing holiday presents for Bloomington’s youngsters, the team at CITY Beverage also managed to significantly increase sales at one of their larger restaurant accounts with a successful year-end promotion. Bud Light became the “official” Monday Night Beer at the city’s Buffalo Wild Wings. Weekly prizes, including t-shirts, hats, football-shaped sling chairs and a mini-refrigerator, culminated on December 4 with the drawing for the coveted grand prize. Kim Mull of Bloomington won two tickets to the Bears vs. Rams game on December 11. We hope her journey to the game was as fun as the Bears’ season-long drive to Miami.
