Celebrating the Green

CITY Beverage-Bloomington

This March, the leprechauns at CITY Beverage- Bloomington spread their green shamrocks throughout the entire market in hopes of making a difference in children’s lives. With the help of generous retailers and consumers, the Bloomington sales team raised more than $6,500 to benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA). The well-motivated team well exceeded their initial goal of $5,000.

CITY Beverage-Chicago

More than 250,000 thirsty people participated in one of Chicago’s most exuberant traditions – the 29th Annual South Side Irish Parade. The celebration of the city’s extensive Irish heritage was evident in the “wearing o’ the green.”

For the first time ever, CITY Beverage-Chicago (CBC) sold 100% of their own products in the bars and restaurants along the parade route. “Over 350 barrels were consumed during the March 11th parade,” notes CBC Sales Manager Tom Hincks.

“We even topped sales from the successful 2006 South Side Irish Parade.”

“CITY’s achievements this year at the South Side Irish Parade are a tribute to our sales team,” Hincks continued. “Team Leader Dave Cahill, Sales Supervisor Tom Durkin, and CMT Amanda Rees have built relationships with these retailers through years of hard work. Retailers choosing to sell our products exclusively on their biggest day of the year reflects so positively on our team. Every CBC employee should be proud of this accomplishment.”

Soave Affiliates Achieve ISO 9001:2000 Recertification

As a cornerstone of our corporate philosophy, all Soave Enterprises’ companies must adhere to the highest standards of quality. Within the manufacturing realm, the industry’s most highly regarded firms seek and achieve certification to an ISO 9001:2000 Standard. This spring, three Soave businesses reaffirmed their commitment to quality management systems and received recertification to this internationally recognized benchmark.

The trio – Ferrous Processing and Trading (FPT), Fastener Manufacturing and Premier Steel – invited independent third-party firms to audit their facilities to ensure strict adherence to ISO 9001:2000 standards. FPT has been certified since 1995; Premier Steel first became certified as a stand-alone entity in December 2006. Fastener Manufacturing’s participation dates to 1996.

Explaining the significance of this achievement, FPT’s Vice President of Quality Clarence Watts says, “This certification communicates to our clients that FPT not only complies with the criteria, but verifiably operates under a disciplined quality and continuous improvement philosophy. This is evident by the mutually strong commitment between FPT and its client base.”

Premier Steel, after operating under the umbrella of FPT’s certification for many years, sought its own ISO certificate. “As Premier Steel evolved from serving secondary markets to a major processor of prime flatrolled steel, our customers’ requirements also changed,” explains the company’s president Fred Bause. “Achieving ISO 9001:2000 standards assures our client base of our dedication to quality and continuous improvement.”

“Quality is more than a commitment to our customers; it is also a commitment to ourselves,” notes Fastener Manufacturing’s Vice President and General Manager Shonna Eben. “All of our employees are actively involved in the processes that this certification is based upon and it shows in their day-to-day actions.”

Our congratulations go to all three companies – and team members – for reaching this outstanding achievement
