Frequently Asked Questions

1. I can’t sign on?
Your userid and password are case sensitive. Your userid and initial password will be in all CAPS. Once you sign in you will be required to change your password.

2. Nothing happens when I click legal scan or spell check?
Likely your pop-up blocker is active. While on the internet page, click on the tools tab and select pop up blocker. Make sure the pop up blocker is disabled, the text line should read “turn on pop up blocker” to be disabled.

3. As the 2nd Manager reviewer, will my comments on the review become a permanent part of the review form?
Yes all comments made by the employee, manager and 2nd manager will become part of the final review form. Any communication not intended to become part of the review form can be written on the email page before sending the form.

4. How do I delete a goal I set up in error?
Goals can only be deleted by your manager or by the STARS helpdesk. All goals can be edited by the employee so before you delete a goal, attempt to edit the goal to correct the problem. The edit icon is located on the far right under “actions.”

5. I cannot see my form, where did it go?
Once a form has been routed to another person in the review route map, it will no longer be viewable on your home or performance tab page. To view a form that has been routed to another party, click on the performance tab and click “all forms.” You will be able to see all of your forms with their current status.

6. Can I make a new goal at any time?
Goals can be created by the employee or the manager at any time. A discussion should take place between the manager and the employee before a goal is created to encourage communication and synergy between both parties.

7. What is the difference between a public and private goal?
When a goal is created, you will determine whether a goal will be private, only viewable by the employee and their manager, or whether the goal should be made public, which is viewable by all employees. The only instance where it may be beneficial to have a goal made public is when all business units have the same goal (ex: Learn and Exercise our Company Core Values). Goals have been defaulted to private status and caution should be considered when making any goal public.

8. I have completed my employee’s appraisal form but I cannot view the overall ratings.
The form must be processed to calculate the overall ratings. To process the form click on the SAVE icon located in the upper right side of the form, the save icon looks like a floppy diskette. Scroll your mouse over the button to view its name/function.

9. Will my form be saved throughout the process automatically?
No, only by processing the form through the save feature or moving it to the next level will ensure your data is saved. We encourage you to save often during the process to make sure you will not lose any data in the event of a power failure or loss of connection.

10. What do the routing buttons on the top and the bottom of the form do?
The review process was designed to allow communication back and forth between employee and supervisors. A green arrow will advance the form to the next level in the route map. The blue arrow will route the form back to the previous level for editing, if required.
