SLC Recycling

SLC Recycling is a division of Zalev Brothers metals recycling operation. Based in Warren, Michigan, the SLC Recycling facility consists of a 78,000-square-foot nonferrous processing facility. The company also owns and operates a feeder yard in Flint, Michigan.

At its roots, SLC is a family story. The company was founded in 1946 and operated out of an inner city Detroit residential garage as a battery collection and lead recovery operation. By the 1960s, the stricter and ever-changing environmental regulations concerning lead convinced the company owners to branch into aluminum and other nonferrous scrap. At that time, the company moved into a larger Detroit facility and determined the time was right to exit the battery collection business. The company thrived as SLC Recycling and by 1983 began searching for an even larger facility, finding the right one just over the Detroit border in Warren.

Zalev Brothers acquired SLC Recycling in 2000. Today, it is home to a series of sorting and processing operations for a range of secondary nonferrous commodities.
